8/3 Primary: Nurturing Sleep: How Bedtime Routines Impact a Child’s Sleep

Dear Parents and Carers,

One of my favourite parts of my day when I had young children was right before bedtime. I loved the special time I had with my children. It was a time when we read the bible and prayed, giving thanks for our day. Studies have shown that having a consistent bedtime routine can lead to better sleep quality, improved mood, and increased productivity.

Calming activities like reading a book or taking a warm bath signal the child that it’s time to wind down. Over time, this ritual becomes a cue for the body to prepare for sleep, reducing bedtime battles and promoting a restful night for both child and parent.

A consistent bedtime routine sets the stage for a peaceful night’s sleep, which is essential for a child’s physical health and emotional regulation. On Wednesday, the 3rd of April, at 6:30 pm, our Psychologists will hold a parent seminar on being ‘Well Rested.’ It will be a valuable time to learn more about the benefits of sleep on the brain and your child’s body. I encourage you to join come along, please register by clicking HERE. I hope to see you there.

Kind regards,

By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.” Genesis 2:2-3
