Deputies 25/3/22: Bullying also can occur online

Dear Parents and Carers,

Jesus’ message is quite simple, ‘Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40) We are instructed to treat others as we would like to be treated. Here at William Carey, it is constantly encouraged for us all to honour Jesus’ message and to think twice before acting. To show empathy and respect to others in the community.

Mrs Michelle Shaw has written about “Bullying. No Way!” and how we can have a common language here at William Carey. As you would be aware, bullying can occur online. ‘Digital Citizenship’ has identified a clip from ‘esafety,’ an Australian Government website that supports the community with regards to digital safety. ‘esafety’ provided useful advice, steps to go through to resolve the issue, and ways to prevent online drama. Please watch the attached video where other useful sites are provided towards the end.

Kind regards,

Mrs Gillian Coote and Mr Antony Hudson

Deputy Principal Primary & High School
