Completing a puzzle develops many skills for young children. Picking up, moving and manipulating each piece supports the development of fine motor skills. Mathematical skills are strengthened as they sort shapes, distinguish edge pieces from those in the centre and determine how one piece fits with another. These children worked together for a significant amount of time to achieve the finished result. Completing the puzzle required them to take turns and communicate clearly with each other. They gained a huge sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from their efforts!
