Primary 20/5/22: Love your Neighbour

Dear Parents and Carers,

Jesus was so clear when he said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31). Our goal is to share God’s love with those around us. And this is very much the message seen and heard here at William Carey. 

The last newsletters shared the importance of the morning assembly with all the families. During this time, one area that shines is our daily discussion on being a thoughtful and considerate member of our community. Both the staff and students are often heard reflecting on this. This week, a parent shared an email that expressed her excitement because her child was singing the song and chanting the week’s Bible verse.

Each week, a staff member explores a different issue that we all face daily. They use a variety of ways to do this. For example, providing definitions, exploring how it works at home or in the classroom, personal reflections, videos, interviews with students and a much love Kahoot Quiz. Teachers often refer to these talks throughout the day and remind students when in the playground.

I hope this gives you a little more insight into our morning assemblies. These are extremely valuable in our life here in primary school.
