I hope that you receive this final newsletter for the year in good health as we gradually ease into the summer holiday period. This year has seen us return to having the school open and welcome back the normal routines. Students, staff, and parents will appreciate the break and enjoy the timely opportunity to relax, reflect on the school year and think ahead to the next one.
I would very much like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the staff for the dedication and commitment they have shown to their work at William Carey this year. Every week has been packed full with the musical, excursions, sporting events, special programs and activities, information nights or parent evenings. Staff are also required to meet their own professional development requirements as well as provide pastoral care and discipline to the students under their care. When we combine this with the demands of preparing lessons, maintaining assessment schedules, envisaging and implementing activities that build up and support our students means it has been an absurdly busy, but wonderful year at William Carey.
At the same time, I would like to acknowledge and thank the students and their families for their ongoing support of the school. It is always a pleasure to take a moment and reflect on the calibre of student engagement and family support we enjoy in all aspects of this school, pastoral and academic alike.
Our Dean of Students Years 11 and 12, Mr Scott Roby is leaving to take up a role as Deputy Principal at another school. We thank him for his time and service to the community and pray that his transition will be smooth as he serves another school community. We welcome Mrs Rebecca Clisdell to the role of the Dean of Students.
As we finish these last weeks of school may I remind you that school continues all the way through until Thursday 8th December 2022. On that day we will be celebrating our Awards Assembly, and of course parents and carers are welcome to join with us at that time.
I would also like to wish you a very happy and restful Christmas period and pray God’s blessing for you as we remember the birth of Jesus and acknowledge our Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
God Bless,
Anthony Hudson
Deputy Principal
