Library 25/10: A Magical Week

A Magical Week

Book Week 2024 was ‘magical’! The theme this year was Reading is Magical and it was a fabulous week of celebrating books and reading.

Students participated in a variety of activities this week:

Mystery Teacher Read Around – on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, students enjoyed listening to stories being read to them by mystery teachers. There was great excitement as students anticipated which mystery teacher would greet their class after recess.

Lunchtime activities – students enjoyed finding magical creatures hidden around the library, and using chalk to create a ‘concrete garden’ in response to one of this year’s Shortlisted books.

Competitions – each student had the opportunity to participate in this year’s Book Week competition. K-2 had a coloring in competition while Years 3-6 designed their own bookmark. The creativity was outstanding and choosing one winner from each class proved to be a difficult task!

A wide variety of books and stationery were on offer to purchase at the Book Fair which is always very popular with our students.

Of course the highlight of Book Week each year is Grandparent’s Day and the Book Parade. The Library was a hive of activity as books and stationery were carefully chosen and purchased, with some proceeds from the sales helping to buy more books for our library. The book parade was a wonderful showcase of the variety of costumes carefully selected and organised.

We are so appreciative of our community’s support in making this event such a great success!
